Biography.

Benjamin Diaz is a Panamanian-American saxophonist and music educator. Currently, working on a doctorate in saxophone performance at the University of Florida. Benjamin has earned a bachelor degree in Music Education from Florida State University specializing in instrumental music education, and a Masters Degree from Columbus State University, where he was the teaching assistant for the saxophone studio. 

Benjamin has performed and lectured about saxophone in various US states including Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Arizona, Connecticut, and abroad in France as a soloist or with groups like the Florida State-Marching Chiefs, CSU Wind Ensemble, UES Balkan Ensemble, Blue Morpho Orchestra,  quartets, and various saxophone ensembles. Benjamin has received various honors including the 2025 MTNA Georgia Devision Honorable Mention recipient. Studying under Dr. Geoffrey Deibel and Dr. Joe Girard, and Jonathan Helton, Benjamin is well versed in the classical saxophone tradition, woodwind pedagogy and dabbles in jazz. As a music educator Benjamin has been the teaching-assistant in his graduate studies, taught middle school band and music appreciation in Broward County Fl, coached marching bands and has worked with various summer music camps as a counselor.
